It is that time of year when Rothiemurchus is re-united with the majestic Ospreys. The Ospreys make their long, tedious and somewhat dangerous journey from Arica (mainly Senegal) back to the Highlands of Scotland for the summer. Many Ospreys nest in the area surrounding Aviemore and visitors can experience an Osprey nest at the RSPB Osprey Centre by Boat of Garten.

Rothiemurchus fortunately have the honour to have ospreys fish over the ponds at our fishery. Visitors can come during the day to try and catch a glimpse of the osprey’s fish over the ponds (£5/person for a days ticket). If you are keener and have experience in photography we offer early morning and evening photography sessions for the chance to get up close and personal shots of Ospreys fishing. Our experienced wildlife guides monitor and manage the fishery each year for Osprey photography and are at hand to help you maximise your experience.
